Bread Rituals

Bread Rituals is designed to demonstrate that bread is a wonderful food and to remind us of the simple things in life. I make use of bread’s symbolic value as a staple food and draw inspiration from customs centred on bread to create eating experiences with a ritualistic touch.

The house-shaped bread symbolises hospitality and refers to an old tradition to welcome guests or new neighbours with bread and salt. The rustic bread, leavened with wild yeasts, comes with salt in a pot reminiscent of a traditional cob oven used by communities to bake their daily bread.

The dining table version of cooking bread on branches over a campfire addresses our desire to reconnect with nature. Charcoal bread helps detoxify the body, signifying the purifying effect of being in the great outdoors.
